Cody Gakpo has signed a contract with Liverpool as per Romano
United were the frontrunners in the race to sign Gakpo, but they were beaten by their main rivals.
Liverpool has completed a deal to sign the player in an instant within hours. More signs pointed to Manchester United than any other club this morning.
Despite the players’ desire to move to Old Trafford, Liverpool will now prepare the formalities for Gakpo’s arrival.
However, the Dutchman is said to have chosen Liverpool over other suitors.
“Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven,” according to David Ornstein.
Fee €40-50m. Netherlands International will travel to England for medical exams and to complete the switch.
Man United and Chelsea were interested in the 23-year-old, but he chose #LFC, and they pounced.”
The deal was then confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who said, “Cody Gakpo to Liverpool, here we go!” The two clubs have reached an agreement.”
“Gakpo will travel to England in the coming days for medical tests before signing the contract.”
“Liverpool have signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, the deal has been signed tonight between clubs.
Gakpo will sign a long-term contract later this week, as the contract has been fully agreed upon.
Liverpool will pay £37 million plus add-ons for a potential package worth up to £50 million.”
