Cristiano Ronaldo has made unexpected contact with Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Axel Hellmann revealed that the club was approached about signing Cristiano Ronaldo a few months ago.
While still under contract with Manchester United during the summer, Ronaldo sought to leave the club.
Despite a large offer from Saudi Arabia, he chose to stay in Europe and compete for a place in the Champions League.

Frankfurt, who won the Europa League the previous season and were entering their first season in Europe’s top club competition, were one club linked with Ronaldo.
Hellmann confirmed to DAZN that Frankfurt had been approached about a possible Ronaldo deal, but that they were not the only ones.

“We were even offered [Ronaldo],” he said. “I believe every Champions League club courted him.”
Ronaldo was said to want to join another Champions League club in order to extend his scoring record in the competition, especially with Lionel Messi on his tail.

His contract with United was mutually terminated at the end of November, and we understands that he has a world record offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr on the table, which he has yet to accept.
Meanwhile, Frankfurt qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League after finishing second to Tottenham in the group stage.
They will face Serie A leaders Napoli in the next round after finishing first in Group A ahead of Liverpool.
