Liga MX club wants to sign Luis Suarez as a Free Agent

Former Liverpool and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is currently a free agent, but Cruz Azul of Mexico is interested in him.

WHAT OCCURRED? Cruz Azul president Victor Velazquez has responded to reports that his club is interested in signing Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker played in the World Cup but is now a free agent after a brief stint with boyhood club Nacional.

where he won the Uruguayan championship 16 years after his first title with the club. Suarez’s next steps are unknown, but he is wanted in Mexico.

“I don’t have any news for you yet, but we’ve been in talks. “Our intention is to bring Luis Suarez to Cruz Azul; we just need to be patient and look for one or two more reinforcements on the top of that,” he told Diario AS. “We’re looking for a left-back as well as a striker.”

Suarez did not score a single goal during Uruguay’s elimination from the World Cup 2022, but he did score eight goals in 16 appearances for Nacional. The striker has previously been linked with a move to MLS, but it appears that he has other options.

Signing Suarez would be a huge statement for Cruz Azul, who will undoubtedly want a decision soon, as the 2023 Clausura tournament begins on January 6th.
