Erik ten Hag has stated that the club will try to sign a forward in the coming year.
Gakpo was on the verge of joining United during the summer transfer window, but the club ultimately chose to sign Antony.
The Reds, on the other hand, are still interested in signing the 23-year-old, who is said to want to join the club and work under Ten Hag.
The attacker impressed during the World Cup in Qatar, scoring three goals before the Netherlands was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Argentina.
This season, he has also scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists for PSV. According to the report, United intends to make a €50 million bid after valuing Gakpo at around €40 million last summer.
TEAMtalk reports that United may allow Jadon Sancho to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window, despite the Englishman having had a difficult season so far.
Sancho, who joined United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, and now Ten Hag.
The 22-year-old is said to be allowed to leave on loan in order to regain his confidence, though a move to Chelsea is said to be out of the question.
The attacker was left out of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad for the tournament in Qatar, despite scoring just three goals in all competitions this season.
