Newcastle United’s position on signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Napoli are unwilling to sell for anything close to the recently touted price of £50 million.

The 21-year-old has had a fantastic debut season at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, already registering eight goals and ten assists in all competitions since joining from Dinamo Batumi.

We reported earlier this week that the Serie A club intends to keep the Georgian winger for at least one more season and is confident of reaching an agreement on a lucrative new contract.

The English press has recently linked Kvaratskhelia with a move to Newcastle, but sources have told Us that Napoli’s stance remains unchanged.

While the club have not disclosed a price tag, they are believed to be holding out for a figure above and beyond £100m such is their appreciation of him.

Newcastle are interested in Kvaratskhelia, but their position is similar to that of several other clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United from England alone.

Kvaratskhelia and Napoli return to action on January 4th, following the World Cup break, with a tough trip to Inter.
