Benrahma update, Romano hint, transfer approach made

With us now in the January window, there is a great opportunity for West Ham United to bolster their squad after a promising first half of the season.

David Moyes will be pleased with finishing top of their Europa League group and they find themselves unbeaten in their last three games in the Premier League. The Irons have had to endure a gruelling Thursday-Sunday schedule for much of the campaign due to their European commitments but sit in sixth place at present.

And with the January window now here, Football FanCast has gathered some of the latest transfer rumours concerning the potential incomings and outgoings we might see at the Hammers this winter.

Kalvin Phillips – Manchester City: Fabrizio Romano thinks West Ham will join the race to sign Kalvin Phillips.

He stated: “City will have conversations in the next few days to decide the future of Phillips, but the plan overall remains the same – for him to leave, and for him to have the opportunity to play,”

“My expectation is that Newcastle will be there, and Crystal Palace are also interested, and I would add West Ham.

“West Ham have always been big fans of Phillips, so let’s see what happens, but I’d guess as well that these clubs will all hope and wait to see if Man City will reduce their asking price for the player.”

Interestingly, we know the interest is already there from West Ham and David Moyes, after a huge bid was rejected in the January window before Leeds ended up selling him to Manchester City the following summer for less.

Semih Kilicsoy – Beskitas: As per Turkish outlet Turkish-Football.com, West Ham have approached Besiktas to sign Semih Kilicsoy.

It has been claimed that Besiktas are keen on keeping the forward this month but will consider serious offers this summer due to their current financial struggles.

The striker is in a bit of a purple patch having scored four times in three senior appearances, which has caught the eye of the Hammers.

With Danny Ings barely featuring in recent times and Divin Mubama seemingly out of the picture, there is added pressure on the frontline with Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen out injured and with Mohammed Kudus away at the Africa Cup of Nations, so you can understand the interest in the young striker.

West-Ham's-Said-Benrahma-scoring-against-Arsenal

Said Benrahma: According to The Evening Standard, West Ham have rejected an initial approach from Marseille for Said Benrahma.

The French side made an offer to take the Algerian on loan until the end of the season in a proposed deal that would have included an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

West Ham would prefer a permanent move away this month, as that would help generate funds to strengthen their own squad.
